I think its fascinating to learn about people. To hear their life stories. To learn about their desires, their joys, their sorrow, and their disappointments. No matter who the person is they have struggles but they also have joys. I love seeing God's hand in the life of others. We are his children and he loves us.
Elder Orson F. Whitney wrote: “No pain that we suffer, no trial that we experience is wasted. It ministers to our education, to the development of such qualities as patience, faith, fortitude, and humility. … It is through sorrow and suffering, toil and tribulation, that we gain the education that we come here to acquire.”
We have hard times in our life. And so does everyone else. But the Savior suffered for each of us. Alma prophesied that “he shall go forth, suffering pains and afflictions and temptations of every kind; and … he will take upon him the pains and the sicknesses of his people. …“That his bowels may be filled with mercy, … that he may know according to the flesh how to succor his people according to their infirmities.”
During our hard times let us not forget others. Everyone has hard times. Reach out and help someone else. "As we extend our hands and hearts toward others in Christlike love, something wonderful happens to us. Our own spirits become healed, more refined, and stronger. We become happier, more peaceful, and more receptive to the whisperings of the Holy Spirit." Dieter F. Uchtdorf
